Part 1. Two little girls and I set up our new Wii and between us became totally frustrated and confused but in a companionable, amiable sort of way. Then the littlest girl went to the builders merchants with granddad and came back with chocolate. Chocolate = hyperactivity.
Part 2. Pre, during and post lunch was a descent into hell leaving me absolutely brain dead, so much so that granddad offered to take the girls out on another builders merchant run to give me peace.
Part 3. Having re-grouped and re-assembled my poor mind and body I summoned up the energy to go to town to collect the book my French family had bought for my birthday and attend the book signing ceremony and boy am I glad that I made the effort!
I have been a drooling, panting, pathetically adoring fan of this author for some years and the thought of meeting him in the flesh (as it where) was too good to miss. And he didn’t disappoint. He tells a good story and is soooooooo charming.
This is what he wrote in my book.
Can you read it? it says "To Ann, will you marry me? Francesco da Mosto". He then looked at me and with a twinkle in his eyes said "have a good time, ciao" because he knew that I would be lunching out on this inscription for the rest of my life!
And finally - money can't buy happiness - but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Mercedes than in a Kia.

I'm sure that going out to meet a handsome man with a twinkle in his eye is well worth the effort, even if it is for a book signing. And where better to share the inscription than on the web. A x
Oh, what a sweetheart! I love it when famous people can be so nice and charming and do something like that to make us feel good! Lucky you!
OHOh...did you say yes? lol!! Too good Ann, too good!
Sandi
Actually Anne, words don't do justice to how georgous he is.
Jay if you had been there you might have even swoped him for Johnnie Depp!
Of course I had to turn him down Sandi. I am, after all, a married woman!
Oh what a lush looking man Isnt it nice to have a drool . I gess thats better in a Mrec too lolol
Wow!!!!!! Am I green with envy? YESSSSSSSS!!!!!! You are so lucky!
Know what you mean about hyperactive granddaughters. Mind you we didn't get a peep out of them when we took them to see Wall E this afternoon.
Its a job to know where to take them on a rainy day.It has rained here for 2 weeks now, practically non stop.
Now, now Valleys Mam, let's keep the party clean. You are right though. He is my cup of tea!
I took the girls to see Mama Mia and they loved it. Just a suggestion Maggie.
PS I loved it too.
Now if that had been David Tennant....
CJ xx
I've been recording his series of late. Superb but only caught the last 4 out of something like 12! Bummer!
Never heard of him before but he is very good. You seem very happy to have met him!
The trouble with David Tennant is that he hasn't asked me to marry him - yet!
MOB - see my smile?
Oooooooh! I love a signed book - especially by someone who looks like that! Lucky you!
Am pretty sure my mother would mug you for that book - she started Italian classes last autumn with the specific aim of being able to chat flirtatiously with Franco (as we call him familiarly...) the next time she's ambling round Venice... or he happens to find himself in our corner of Scotland...
What a great inscription!
I believe that his TV travalog is only shown in the UK aims so I assume that you have never seen him. Trust me, he is to die for!
Lesley, I think I would get on well with your Mum. I, too, have spent two visits to Venice convinced that he was around the next corner and never imagining in my wildest dreams that I would finally meet him in our small market town. Funny old life!
To be perfect honest David I did ask him to write that inscription. I know, you are totally surprised by that admission aren't you?
That last bit was just the best. I watched his series on TV too, and thought he was marvellous. Will you marry him? M :-)
Will I marry him? Wouldn't you Margot? We have Rick Wakeman coming to a book signing this month too and I think I will get him to propose as well.
